In May The Australian Institute of Professional Photography held the Epson 2008 Tasmanian Professional Photographer of the Year Awards. With a record number of images and the largest number of photographers entering, the competition was fierce! Following a whole day of judging in a couple of categories (wedding and open) we retired for an evening meal where the winner was announced. To my total surprise, it was me! I took out the Tasmanian Professional Photographer of the Year Award for 2008 and my good friend Phil Kuruvita took out the Wedding Photographer of the Year. It was a pretty cool (and sometimes nerve wracking) chance to have my images judged by some of Australia’s finest photographers.

The images are currently on display at Photoforce (Hobart) and of course in my online gallery. Although only four images can go towards the overall result – each photographer can enter a spare image (just to gauge its popularity).

My four images (plus a spare):

  1. Lava tubes – Gold
  2. Thumbs – Silver with Distinction (spare)
  3. School of fish – Silver
  4. Furry rocks – Silver
  5. Clear fell – Silver

Make sure you have a look at the images and let me know what you think...here
