Just a couple of weeks ago Tasmania held the largest and most successful Australian Institute of Professional Photography conference, Southern Exposure 2007.

The conference featured nine speakers over three days in the beautiful surroundings of Cradle Mountain.

A good time was had by all and as always there were many interesting conversations, debates and plenty of exchanges of ideas.

The weather could not have been any better, snowing on arrival and then beautiful sunshine. There was a great photographic opportunity on the second morning for those prepared to brave the cold (and the black ice on the roads!) – Have a peek at my image – here

I got to meet many amazing people both inside and outside of the photographic industry. Although there were many inspirational speakers – my personal favourite would have had to have been Eric Philips – polar explorer (more from him here), basically this guy gets his kicks skiing to the North and South Pole! He was a pioneer of using kites to drag you along when traversing the polar ice caps!

I learnt some great Photoshop tips from a few of the speakers and met Adrian Trehey founder of Gekko images – a stock library that sells my images here.

We also had the pleasure of Don Burrows’ company, a very famous jazz musician kept us entertained until the early hours. More about him – here.
